Elizabeth

Remember Elizabeth?

I can't believe she's already 1! I was so excited when her mom asked me to do her pictures for her birthday. She's such a sweetheart, and definitely loved by her mama! She's still a little wobbly on her feet, but she definitely prefers that to sitting now. And she loves cake, but she does NOT love an audience. She even turned her back on me a time or two with a fistful of cake. So sweet! Take a look at all the fun we had today!

Kaili and Justin's Senior Ball

Are you starting to feel like you actually know these two? (This comment is {obviously} for those who don't actually know them.) :-) Kaili and Justin are my 'regulars' and I love it when they ask me to take photos before one of their dances. They don't like the pics they get from the dance, and I get to practice my skills and see Kaili's killer dresses. This was the first dance I've done for them in the winter, so we had to make do with very little light rather than lovely sunlight outside.

Take a look, let me know what you think, and spend some time drooling over this fabulous gown!

As a side note, I'm beginning to wonder if there is a market for pre-dance photos? I'm going to give it a shot, so if you know anyone in high school who might be interested, send them my way. Check out the top of the page for a new special just for this spring's proms!

And one more aside: if you want to know where Kaili scores these one-of-a-kind dresses, let me know and I can hook you up with the information...she rents them!

Tayler Turns 2!

This sweet little lady has made a few appearances on this blog, and now she's reached her second birthday! She wasn't terribly excited to get her picture taken, so we only managed a few. And, unfortunately, the lovely darkness in SLC caused by the inversion made things a little difficult too. But, this sweetheart can make even my bad photos look good. :-) Take a look at pretty miss Tayler.

Week 6 of 52 "Words"

Whoo! This week was a challenge in that I had so many ideas, but none of them were original! I'm not even sure this on is original, but I got to the point where I had to just find something or I was going to give up and miss the deadline. For me, that is one of the biggest parts to this challenge: finding something here and now rather than waiting for the perfect "ah hah!" moment to come along. And so far, I've come up with a few pretty fun photographs.

So here is my rendition of "words" for this week's entry:

How many of us "speak" more words with a keyboard than with our mouths? I know, everyone is completely tired of the whole Valentine's Day theme by this point. But I have yet to create anything for the holiday, despite all the great ideas I have seen. It's on the brain as I've been helping kids pick out Valentines and treats, so I went with it. Love to hear what you think!

PS: I'm still working on finding a signature watermark to use on all my portraits...these challenge photos seem to be a great place to experiment, so give me a shout-out if you find one you love!

Week 5 of 52 "Muse"

The theme this week for the Project 52 I'm participating in is "muse". There are many definitions for muse, but basically is the process of wondering thoughtfully (an action) or it is a person's inspiration (a noun). Quite open for interpretation, and therefore a little tough! This is what I came up with:

My reasoning: first, my kids are always my greatest inspiration when I get out my camera. Second, Aedan was "deep in thought" when I took this photo (actually, he was just engrossed in Spiderman, but I take what I can get). :-) Let me know what you think!

An Oldie but a Goodie!

This was one of my first {successful} attempts at a landscape portrait, and it was very popular with friends and family at the time. I've re-edited it and posted it to prints to buy if anyone is interested. It's always interesting to go back and look at how much my skills have grown. Happy Thursday!
